ICGMA Convention & Awards
Show Is A Huge Success
The 55th
annual Convention and Awards Show of the International
Country Gospel Music Association was held August 5th
& 6th
at the Civic Center Auditorium in West Plains, Missouri.
The two-day event was a complete
success.
The appreciative crowd that
packed the auditorium each night roared their approval as
over 60 performers and groups made their appearances on the
stage.
The two day event
featured Showcase performances Friday Morning and afternoon,
with a big concert Friday night.
Saturday morning’s Songwriters
Seminar welcomed a “standing room only” crowd as James Payne
shared on “How to get your songs out of your heart and into
the charts”.
The Highlight of the weekend
activities was the 55th
annual Gold Cross Awards Show.
The elegantly decorated stage
provided a beautiful setting for the presentation of 28
awards to this years winners.
The program featured
performances by 20 artists, including Buddy Jewell, David
Lynn Jones, James Payne, Marla Ratliff, Chuck Hancock, Gayla
Earlene, and comedian Barry McGee.
Following the Awards Show, a
reception was held in the Banquet Hall for the ICGMA
membership to honor the winners of the Gold Cross Awards.
Highlights of the Awards Show
included the induction of Melanie Walker and Doyle Dykes
into the ICGMA Hall Of Fame.
The Lifetime Achievement Award
went to the late Joe Paul Nichols.
Hereafter this award will be
named “The Joe Paul Nichols Lifetime Achievement Award”.
Dual winners included James
Payne, Male Vocalist of the Year , and Songwriter of the
Year, and Buddy Jewell for Entertainer of the Year, and
Crossover Artist of the Year.
At the conclusion of
the Saturday night festivities, the announcement of the
dates and location for next years event was made by ICGMA
president Dan Duncan.
The 2012
Convention and Awards Show will be held August 3rd
and 4th.
Once again it will be held at
the Civic Center Auditorium in West Plains Missouri.
