Fiesta de Salud 2009

       I want to take this opportunity to thank God and the following organizations who helped make The Hobbs Hispano Chamber of Commerce 3rd Annual “Fiesta de Salud” (Health Fair) a great success. Placido Rameriz (Knights of Columbus) for letting us use their hall for this event. All the participants: Lea County Health Council, Faith in Action, Lin-Mar Inc., Guidance Center of Lea County, Presbyterian Medical Services / Hobbs Family Health Center, Elite Home Health, Kymera Cancer Center, CASA of Lea County, Star Care Hospice & Home Health, Vista Care Hospice, Halsell Family Chiropractic, Community Dental Services, Option Inc., Nor-Lea Hospital District, Nor-Lea Diabetes Self Management Center, Nor-lea Pediatrics/ Dr. Murillo, Nor Lea Cardiology Rehab/ Smoking Sensation, WIC- Women Infants & Children, Families First, Hobbs Health Office, Children’s Medical Services, Hobbs Police Department, Eunice Health Clinic, Curves, Breast & Cervical Cancer - Early Detection Program, Lea Regional Medical Center, American Cancer Society/ Cancer Prevention Study III, The Center for Industrial Medicine/Quick Care Clinic/ Barbara Lane, Dr. Gonzalez, The Eye Center of Southeast NM/Dr. Carrraby and Hobbstetrics & Gynecology/ Dr. McLaughlin. For the health meal: Sam Cobb (RMS Foods), Tony Mendoza (La Tienda), Carlos Ayala (Pepsi) and Jennifer Rojas (Frito Lay). Juana Frazier and Genevieve Navarrette (HHCC staff), Beatrice Butler, Patty Collins, Amy Robledo and Carlos Ayala (HHCC Community Affairs Committee), The Padrinos Committee (HHCC), and the HHCC Board of Directors. All the local radio stations for PSAs, KLMA for doing a live remote and the Hobbs News Sun for a doing a story on our event. The Opportunity House for cleaning and setting up the K of C Hall and anyone else who helped.
       This year we helped over three hundred (300) citizens of Hobbs and the surrounding area. They received different medical screenings and professional medical advice at no cost. They also received a free healthy meal. All leftover food items were distributed between Mana Outreach, The Opportunity House and the Knights of Columbus.
       Our “Fiesta de Salud” goes to show how big a heart Hobbs has when asked to help those in need. May God bless you and Thank You again!
