ART
EXHIBIT, SEPTEMBER 1, 2006
The
Hobbs Hispano Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with The
Lea County Center for the Arts hosted an Art Exhibit,
showcasing regional Hispanic Artists throughout the month
of September. "The event was truly a
success. We were more than proud to provide the
opportunity for our local Hispanic Artists to showcase
their artwork," stated Elizabeth Bernal, Executive
Director of the Hispano Chamber. Hobbs native Randy
Rascon displayed his unique photographic works of
art. Jessica Arriaga provided beautiful oil
paintings. There were just some of the art pieces on
display at the Center for the Arts. If you happened
to have missed the exhibit, don't worry both the Hispano
Chamber and Center for the Arts plan to run the exhibit
next year. "We were truly delighted and want
the exhibit to be even bigger next year," stated Dave
Sadler, Director of The Lea county Center for the
Arts. For the Hobbs Hispano Chamber of Commerce,
this was a great opportunity to promote our proud Hispanic
Heritage.
The art show also headlined the much anticipated Proclamation
by Mayor Monty Newman proclaiming September as "¡Viva
Septiembre!" celebrating Hispanic Heritage.
"Hispanic Heritage month is nationally recognized,
but it was amazing to have it officially proclaimed here
in Hobbs. It's something we're proud to give to our
Hispanic community," stated Elizabeth Bernal.
This event marks the beginning of a promising relationship
between the Hispano Chamber and our local community.
